Humanitas University prepares its students to thrive in the clinical and research areas in Italy or overseas.
An international and stimulating environment frames all our courses at Humanitas University. We seek to support our students’ personal and professional growth and believe in nurturing a spirit of collaboration, curiosity and responsibility.
By training professionals in the Life Sciences with a model that integrates Education, Research and Clinical Practice, Humanitas University brings out the talent in its students. Humanitas University values internationalisation, strongly believes in innovative teaching methods, designs and delivers new learning pathways and implements top welcoming programmes.
Humanitas attracts young people from Italy and from all over the world and offers the opportunity to engage in a unique kind of education. It is an international hub for the training of doctors, nurses, physiotherapists
and researchers capable of dealing with future scientific, technological and social change.
The close integration between the Hospital, the Research Laboratories and the University creates the conditions for healthcare professionals to gain experience by working closely with patients and
at the same time acquire the methodology and rigour that scientific research requires – a means to creating synergy between clinical and laboratory practice in an educational context.
The Simulation Center – training excellence
The Mario Luzzatto Simulation Center is a 2000 square metres state-of-the-art Simulation Lab, one of the most technologically advanced in Europe which complements the academic components in training healthcare professionals. We are the first in Italy to integrate a Hospital, a University Campus, a Simulation Center and Anatomy Lab to provide an outstanding experience.
In the Simulation Center students have the opportunity to integrate theoretical knowledge with practical skills, thanks to its emergency room, operating theatres, ambulatories, clinical and surgical skill rooms and multimedia booths. The Simulation Center is an asset in the field of Life Sciences and a training resource for companies and professionals, who wish to enhance their professional development in the reality of a modern hospital, using surgical or endoscopy equipment in a high-fidelity context.
The Mario Luzzatto Simulation Center is equipped to offer second level highly specialised professional training courses of SIM (Simulation
in Medicine), combining theory with simulated practical activities.
Humanitas is the first Italian hospital to be quality-certified as an Academic Hospital by the Joint Commission International. It is one of the most technologically advanced European hospitals
and internationally renowned for its research on immune system diseases.
Humanitas has specialist units treating oncological, cardiovascular, neurological, orthopaedic, autoimmune and inflammatory diseases. It also has a top Eye Centre, an outstanding Fertility Centre and a highly specialised Accident and Emergency department.
Medical assistance, supported by the best professional knowledge and a multidisciplinary approach, is complemented by constant research activities aimed at improving and personalising treatment.
IRCCS Istituto Clinico Humanitas heads a group of hospitals in Italy, located in Milan, Bergamo, Castellanza, Turin and Catania.
Harvard University mentioned Humanitas as one of the most innovative hospital worldwide, a management case of the Harvard Business School for its organizational model.
Humanitas Research Centre
The key words for research are openness and cross fertilisation – fundamental for scientific progress. New discoveries originate from questioning traditional knowledge thanks to data and a rigorous scientific approach. The actors in this process are today’s young people.
Research does not just belong to the laboratories, innovation and discoveries need to be transferred directly to daily clinical activities on the ward.
The close connection between treatment and research is one of the founding pillars of the Humanitas model.
Our objective is to offer patients the best possible treatment by transferring impacting research to the patient’s bedside.
Humanitas Research Hospital is a highly specialised teaching and research hospital with international recognition:
- more than 400 doctors and researchers from all over the world work in close collaboration with Humanitas doctors;
- 22 high-tech laboratories for genetics and molecular imaging;
- a research on immune pathologies and high impact diseases like cancer, cardiovascular problems, stroke and autoimmune diseases;
- network of excellence that includes New York University, the Université Catholique de Louvain in Belgium, the Spanish National Centre for Biotechnology in Madrid, the Queen Mary School of Medicine in London and the Pasteur Institute in Paris.
