BSc in Biomedical Laboratory Techniques

The degree course is in Italian and is spread over 3 years. The aim is to train technical staff capable of understanding the articulated systems that characterise modern biomedical laboratories.

A total of 25 places are available for the academic year 2023/2024.

The Degree Programme

During the course, students will gain an in-depth understanding of what the Biomedical Laboratory Technician’s job consists of: they will be involved in research and examination activities related to biomedical and biotechnological analyses; in particular, they will acquire knowledge in biochemistry, microbiology and virology, pharmaco-toxicology, immunology and pathology.

The course will offer the opportunity to experiment with advanced technologies and diagnostic pathways that will allow students to combine experiences in the fields of teaching, care, scientific research and management and operational models.

Thanks to the agreement and proximity with Humanitas Research Hospital, during the professional activities students will have the opportunity to attend various laboratories: pathological anatomy, biochemistry, cytogenetics, genetics, immunology, microbiology, parasitology and virology, pharmaco-toxicology, clinical pathology, haematology, basic research and translational research.

Once they have completed their three years of studies, graduates in Biomedical Laboratory Techniques can find employment in a variety of fields such as

  • hospital and non-hospital laboratories affiliated to the National Health Service
  • private facilities or Scientific Hospitalization and Treatment Institutes (IRCCS)
  • companies operating in the field of laboratory diagnostics
  • university and non-university biomedical and biotechnological research laboratories
  • quality control laboratories in the biomedical field and the pharmaceutical industry.
