International Mobility
Humanitas University offers three international mobility pathways.
Erasmus+
Humanitas University prepares its students to face the challenges of the European society, which, still strongly rooted in its traditions, is undergoing the process of globalisation. As a university, we encourage our students and staff to participate in mobility programmes, including virtual exchanges.
Within international mobility, Erasmus+ offers three different programmes:
Erasmus+ Study programme
It allows students to spend a study period (from 2 to 12 months) at a university in another European country participating in the same Erasmus+ programme. The mobility period can take place during any cycle of studies, including attending classes, taking exams, working on a thesis project, or doing an internship, provided all activities occur during the study period.
Before departure

During mobility, on the first and last day
- Certificate of stay (confirmation of start and end of internship issued by the host organisation)
Upon return
- Send the Transcript of Records issued by the host organisation to the Erasmus Office
- Complete the online Narrative Report (EU Participant Survey) using the link provided in the email received from the EU
- To request reimbursement
- To send documentation after selection
- To finalise the recognition of credits
Erasmus+ Traineeship programme
It offers students the chance to carry out internships at foreign institutions. Alternatively, students can participate in the SEMP programme, or the Swiss-European Mobility Programme.
The SEMP supports mobility to and from Switzerland and is active in universities from countries participating in Erasmus+ and holding an Erasmus Charter. Thanks to SEMP, the costs of mobility both to and from Switzerland are funded by federal resources. SEMP mobilities are subject to the guidelines of the Swiss National Agency Movetia and depend on the number of scholarships available each year.

BIPs
BIPs (Blended Intensive Programmes) are a new initiative within the Erasmus+ programme. BIPs are international training activities combining online collaboration with a brief physical mobility, structured with a “challenge-based” approach. A minimum of 3 ECTS credits is recognised for this programme, and the involvement of at least three European universities is required.

Scholarships
During the mobility period abroad, students remain enrolled at Humanitas University and are not required to pay any tuition fees or charges to the host university (except for any administrative fees). To fund the stay abroad under the Erasmus+ programme, the EU awards a scholarship to each selected candidate. Although it does not cover all expenses, it can help to cover additional costs such as travel or accommodation in the host country
The monthly amount of the EU grant is set annually by the National Agency Erasmus+. Promoting international mobility, Humanitas University provides an additional scholarship to all students who have received an Erasmus+ grant, doubling the amount received by the students. Special contributions are also available for participants with fewer opportunities, allocated from specific national funds.
Participation Procedure
Students of Humanitas University wishing to undertake a period of study or internship abroad within the Erasmus+ programme will find all information regarding prerequisites and procedures in the annual HU Erasmus call. Application forms for selection must be completed via the reserved area of My Portal, under the “International Mobility” menu.
The ranking of the selected candidates and the waiting lists will be published on the website; selected candidates will also be notified by email. The chosen candidates are encouraged to visit the host university’s website for information on courses, application procedures, accommodation services for students, and more.
The selected candidate has the option to decline the scholarship. In such cases, they are asked to promptly send an email to the Erasmus Office (erasmus@hunimed.eu): immediate notification allows other students to go abroad.
Linguistic Support
The European Commission offers Erasmus+ students free online language courses via the “Online Linguistic Support” (OLS) platform. The Erasmus Office will provide selected students with login credentials to access the OLS platform.
Travel Grant
These are scholarships offered by Humanitas University to finance thesis projects, research, or internships abroad. Students will be eligible starting from their second year of study. Students can directly propose a project and collaborate with a foreign university or research centre, or Humanitas University can support the identification of a partner institution to develop the project. In the latter case, additional academic requirements may be requested from students.

The Travel Grant Partner agreements are available only for single-cycle Master’s degree programs in Medicine and Surgery and MEDTEC School.

The application must be submitted by the international office of the partner universities to our International Office at international.office@hunimed.eu.
How to apply
Interested students must submit a brief project summary to the Chair of the Degree Course. A panel of professors will evaluate the merit of the project and decide whether it meets the criteria for funding.
Any project deemed satisfactory in terms of quality and educational objectives will be funded based on an estimate of travel, accommodation, and meal expenses, up to the limits specified in the annual call.
Call for Travel Grant – Partner Universities academic year 2024/2025
Student selection
If the number of approved projects exceeds the available funds, the Travel Grant funds will be allocated to students according to the following rules:
- Students in their 4th, 5th, and 6th year will have priority
- Students participating for the first time will have priority over those who have already received a scholarship fund in previous academic years
- Students who have been awarded scholarships two or more times cannot participate in this call
Grades and CFUs earned will be considered if further selection among students becomes necessary.
Documents to provide before departure
For approved projects, students must submit the acceptance letter issued by the foreign institution to the international office. Projects without an acceptance letter will not be considered.
Amount of the Travel Grant
Selected students will be entitled to a fixed amount, which varies depending on the country in which the project will take place. The amounts are listed in the call.
The allowance will be paid after the completion of the project, based on:
- The final project report to be written within three weeks of return
- A certificate confirming the completion of the project, issued by the host organisation. The certificate must be submitted within 3 weeks of the end of the experience
- Participation in the debriefing meeting of the Travel Grant Programme to discuss the experience and suggest further improvements
