The Degree Course
The Bachelor’s Degree Course in Osteopathy trains healthcare professionals capable of implementing preventive and health promotion interventions to improve people’s quality of life. Osteopaths, working on the basis of a medical diagnosis, assess patients through observation, perceptive palpation, and osteopathic tests to identify somatic dysfunctions not linked to musculoskeletal diseases.
The programme combines theoretical and practical training to ensure comprehensive preparation in the osteopathic field, offering a scientific approach to the discipline and a high standard of education. Students study core subjects such as anatomy, physiology, biomechanics, and general pathology, gaining a solid scientific foundation. They also explore clinical sciences including neurology, orthopaedics, rheumatology, and radiology. A central component of the course focuses on osteopathic subjects, with special attention to principles, models, and techniques that enable students to plan appropriate osteopathic treatments for preventive care.
The curriculum includes internships and hands-on activities, allowing students to work closely with patients under the supervision of experienced osteopaths.
This course marks a significant milestone for Italy, as Humanitas University is among the first universities in the country to offer it. Internationally, our educational model is inspired by the highest standards, such as those adopted by universities in England, Norway, and Finland, renowned for their excellence in osteopathic training.
The study programme integrates biomedical sciences (such as anatomy, physiology, and general pathology) with osteopathic sciences, including osteopathic integration principles and specific manual techniques. Students learn to interpret clinical data and develop practical skills in prevention through professional internships in social-healthcare facilities, care centres, and multispecialty outpatient clinics – starting from the first year.
The Osteopathy Degree Course at Humanitas University is structured according to the highest European standards, providing top-level education and opening career opportunities both nationally and internationally. It also offers internships abroad in countries where osteopathy has been recognised for many years. The course aims to train highly skilled professionals, ready to face the challenges of today’s healthcare systems.
