The Post Graduate Master Program in Endoluminal Therapeutic Endoscopy is a 12 months-course targeting Medical Doctors wishing to enhance their skills in the most innovative diagnostic and operative endoscopic techniques.
The Master has to be interpreted within a global framework in which the use of endoscopic techniques is increasingly indispensable in the early diagnosis and treatment of oesophageal, gastric and colorectal lesions, through a minimally invasive and increasingly multidisciplinary diagnostic and therapeutic approach.
Learning Objectives
The Master course provides theoretical-practical training aimed at creating multidisciplinary and excellent paths in the management of patients suffering from digestive tract diseases (pre- and neoplastic lesions, esophago-gastric motility disorders), as well as in the management and endoscopic treatment of surgical complications.
The aim of the Program is to provide the participant with the skills to independently perform basic endoscopic procedures and complex endoscopic procedures, including:
- Endoscopic mucosal resection (EMR)
- Endoscopic dissection (ESD)
- Endoscopic myotomy (POEM)
- Endoscopic septotomy for Zenker’s diverticulum, Endoscopic treatment of endoscopic perforations or perforations of other origin, fistulas and post-surgical dehiscences (clipping, stenting, endovac therapy, drainage)

Structure and Program
The Program lasts one year, and requires a total commitment of 1.500 hours, which correspond to 60 ECTS.
Frontal teaching activities will take place remotely, with recorded lessons to be autonomously completed.
The on-site applicative part will take place at Humanitas University, both on biological models and advanced simulators. In particular, the Endocubot robotic device (EndoRobotics®) will be used, allowing to reproduce various procedural scenarios in a controlled and safe environment. The adoption of this innovative technology makes it possible to replace the use of live animal models, in line with the most up-to-date ethical guidelines for medical training and the reduction of the use of in vivo models. This choice represents an important step forward in terms of sustainability, ethical responsibility and educational quality. To complement the structured exercises, each participant will also have a device called Endogel, which will allow them to practice advanced endoscopic maneuvers independently. This tool represents an innovative teaching aid, useful for improving dexterity and familiarity with these procedures before application in real clinical settings.
The internship, in its hands-off and hands-on modules, will take place at the facilities of IRCSS Istituto Clinico Humanitas (Rozzano), Humanitas San Pio X (Milan), according to a schedule to be agreed with each participant.
- Practical exercises on biological models and advanced simulators
- Autonomous exercise on operative endoscopic procedures (ESD/POEM) using EndoGel
- Observation (hands-off) of operative endoscopic procedures
- Tutored activity in the endoscopy room (hands-on)
