Apply
Humanitas University welcomes applications from talented students from all over the world. Admission to the degree courses in Medicine and Surgery and MEDTEC School is subject to selection through an admission test.
On this page, you will find the structure of the exam and the steps you need to follow to send your application.
- I round: 5th – 6th March 2026
- II round: 18th – 20th March 2026
Double your chances
Humanitas University offers two opportunities to take the online admission test:
- I round: 5th – 6th March 2026
- II round: 18th – 20th March 2026
Students may decide to take the test in one or both rounds available. For those who will take the admission test on both test dates and obtain a valid score in both tests, the final ranking will only consider the higher of the two scores achieved.
To access the final ranking, each candidate must submit the highest score on the Humanitas University Registration Portal.
The HUMAT test is also open to students in their second-to-last year of high school. Scores from the two tests taken during the second-to-last year will be valid for the admission ranking of the year in which the student graduates from high school. If you are enrolled in your second-to-last year, you will be able to take two additional tests during your final year.
The results of these tests will be valid for the admission ranking for the year you obtain your school leaving certificate. The final ranking list will consider only the best score out of the four tests taken.

Italian Language Recommendations

Additional Training Obligation (OFA)
In addition to the admission test, whose purpose is to evaluate the fundamental skills required of candidates for the Degree Course in Medicine and Surgery, the University also considers it appropriate to establish whether there are any educational gaps in topics considered prerequisite for the first year. If any such educational gaps exist, the University will help enrolled students to fill these gaps:
- All enrolled students will undergo a mandatory evaluation test (which is different from the admission test) to evaluate their knowledge from previous study which is related to the disciplines of chemistry, physics, mathematics, and biology;
- If the score obtained on the evaluation test is less than 50% in any of the test subjects, the enrolled student will be required to take a recovery course – Additional Training Obligation, (OFA) – for each discipline not passed. The recovery courses are offered during Induction Weeks;
- If the student is required to take an Additional Training Obligation, OFA, they will be retested at the end of the Induction Weeks. The final test will cover the individual discipline for which the recovery course was taken. In order to consider the OFA complete and to take any of the exams in the Degree Course of Medicine and Surgery, the final test must be passed. If the test is not passed at the end of the Induction Weeks course, further recovery tests will be provided on later dates.
The new admission test
The new Admission test for Medicine and Surgery and MEDTEC School degree courses is the first step into your career at Humanitas University.
As a candidate, you will take a single test and can choose which degree program to compete for: Medicine and Surgery, MEDTEC School or both. This means that, although there is a unique test, the evaluation system will be different: the sections that compose the test will have different weights depending on the degree course for which you are competing.
The test is not limited to evaluating what you have studied but aims to test your abilities: in other words, what you can do. In fact, Humanitas University seeks to identify talented students with different scientific and critical thinking skills, analysis and comprehension of academic texts, as well as to understand the aptitude and propensity of candidates to study hard sciences typical of engineering and life sciences typical of medicine.
The objective is not to evaluate previous knowledge, but to measure the skills and abilities relevant to undertaking highly scientific courses of study.
Test structure
The admission test is divided into three distinct sections, each consisting of multiple-choice questions. In total, the test includes 60 questions to be completed in 120 minutes.
Scientific Thinking & Academic Literacy (20 questions, 45 minutes)
- Scientific thinking: includes mathematical, procedural and visual thinking (10 questions)
- Academic Literacy: analysis and comprehension of academic texts and critical evaluation of information contained in pseudo-scientific research articles (10 questions)
Biology and Chemistry (20 questions, 35 minutes)
- Assessment of basic scientific skills in the two fields, with questions on fundamental concepts of Biology and Chemistry (10 Biology questions, 10 Chemistry questions)
Mathematics and Physics (20 questions, 40 minutes)
- Questions to test the application of the most relevant mathematical and physical principles for scientific study (10 questions on Mathematics, 10 questions on Physics)
Evaluation
For both degree programs, the maximum achievable score on the test is 960 points. Candidates who reach the minimum threshold in each section of the test are considered eligible for the final ranking list. The answers in each section are evaluated differently for Medicine and Surgery and MEDTEC School, as are the minimum thresholds for each section.
