Sottopelle: rethinking the concept of care through a role-playing game

Education ●September 29, 2026

On Sunday 4 October, at Villa Elios, Humanitas University presents “Sottopelle”, a live-action role-playing game featured in the BergamoScienza 2026 programme.

What does it mean to “care for someone”? Sottopelle, the live-action role-playing game developed by Humanitas University, places participants at the centre of a clinical case, inviting them to explore some of the decisions, relationships and different perspectives that shape the work of healthcare professionals.

During the activity, participants will take on different roles, each with their own information, responsibilities and perspectives. The aim will not be to reach a diagnosis or identify one “right” answer, but to engage with some of the questions that are part of caring for a patient: how are complex decisions made? How important is the patient’s point of view? How can different healthcare professionals work together to make a shared decision?

Through the game, participants will be able to explore the human dimension of medicine, the value of teamwork, listening, and dialogue between different areas of expertise and perspectives. The activity is designed for a non-specialist audience and does not require any prior medical knowledge.

At the end of the activity, participants will also have the opportunity to take part in a guided visit inside Humanitas Gavazzeni, discovering its spaces and some of the elements that reflect its history and cultural dimension. Parents will also be able to join this second part of the experience.

The activity is open to the public from the age of 15 and places are limited.

To take part, participants must register on the BergamoScienza website here.

The event will be held in Italian.
