Main research interest in clinical translational projects, centered on genetic characterization of human viruses and definition of mechanisms of drug-resistance development and immune escape in chronic and acute viral infections. Detailed characterization of viral genetic features also relied on phylogenetic studies and assessment of pathways of viral transmission in community and nosocomial settings. Latest research interests include the management of complicated infections in fragile and hospitalized patients, including those sustained by fungi and multi-drug resistant bacteria. During her working activity, she also focused on the optimization of diagnostic protocols used in clinical microbiology for fragile patients, especially those for reactivating viral infection in transplant settings.
