Public Engagement
In line with the Third Mission and the founding values of the University, Humanitas University promotes the dissemination of scientific culture and health awareness through cross-disciplinary activities of public engagement that integrate education, research, and clinical practice. These activities involve the entire university community and open up to the local, national, and international territories.
Participating in events and public manifestations means engaging in dialogue with society, sharing knowledge, and bringing the population closer to the world of research and health.
Cultural Festivals
The university regularly participates in major cultural festivals, with a structured and coherent programme:
- BookCity Milan – festival dedicated to books and reading
- PianoCity Milan – music festival (Discover the initiative: 2024)
- Soul – Festival of Spirituality – Milan (Discover the initiative: 2024, 2025)
Additionally, it hosts events open to the public on its campus, helping to make science more accessible, partly through the involvement of over 190 Faculty members who engage annually in conferences, debates, courses, and visits to schools and cultural centres.
- Philosophy and Care – a series of monthly meetings on the relationship between Philosophy and Care, featuring Professor Massimo Cacciari in dialogue with prominent figures of the University (Discover the initiative: 2025)

Humanitas University participates in Italy’s main scientific festivals with the aim of spreading health culture and the latest scientific evidence to a broad audience in an accessible and inclusive manner:

- Focus Live – outreach event promoted by Focus, with interactive moments and meetings with experts (Discover the initiative: 2022)
- Pint of Science – informal gatherings with scientists in city venues (Discover the initiative: 2023, 2024, 2025)
- Ask me anything – Piccolo Teatro – pre-show meetings in the theatre’s bar to explore and highlight the role of pure, human, and social sciences (Discover the initiative: 2024, 2025)
- Researchers Night – an annual celebration organised by the European Union to raise awareness of the crucial role researchers play in our society
Exhibitions and Events
Exhibition Officina Immunitaria
Designed by Humanitas University in collaboration with Taxi1729 to bring the public closer to a crucial topic such as the immune system, Officina Immunitaria is an interactive exhibition that combines multimedia displays, hands-on activities, and moments of scientific insight. It has been showcased at major science festivals to engage adults, students, and families in themes of great importance for public health.
Univax Day
The university participates in the Univax Day project, a national initiative aimed at education and awareness about vaccinations, targeting high school students. The goal is to develop awareness and critical thinking regarding vaccine prevention through meetings with teachers and experts.
Through these initiatives, Humanitas University reaffirms its commitment to sharing knowledge and building a strong scientific culture, contributing to the growth of a more conscious and responsible society.
