Foundation Program

Intensive preparation course to help students face the medical admissions test
and the following university degree course.

What is it?

Humanitas University Foundation Program is the course designed to support and equip students to progress into a degree program in Medicine and Surgery.

This program will prepare students academically on the subjects of chemistry, physics, mathematics and logic, biology as well as one module of English for Medical and Academic Purposes. Students will also have the opportunity to participate inworkshops and activities related to the medical profession.

High Value

At the end of the program, Humanitas University will issue a credit transfer certificate. Students who will pass the admission test and enroll on the Medical Degree Course at Humanitas Medical School, will have the possibility to transfer the credits of the modules completed during the Foundation Program compliant with the first year Study Plan.

The following modules are eligible for credit transfer: chemistry (10 credits), biology (4 credits), physics (8 credits) for a total of 22 university credits. Students of the Foundation Program will be exempted from part of the exam contents of the first year of Medicine (chemistry, biology and physics) and of the second year (physics).  See Humanitas University Medical School study plan.

Additionally, students who completethe Foundation Program and are successfully admitted to Humanitas University Degree Programin Medicine and Surgery will be granted a scholarship:

  • €2.000 scholarship for students who complete the Foundation Program and obtain 22 transferrable university credits
  • €1.000 scholarship for students who complete the Foundation Program and obtain at least 12 transferrable university credits.

How to apply

The application process must be completed exclusively online on the University website www.hunimed.eu. In order to submit the application, candidates are required to pay a €50 fee. Payment must be made within 3 working day from the date of the application submission.

Applications will not be considered until the payment has been made.

Candidates are required to provide the following documents:

  • Motivation letter;
  • Curriculum Vitae;
  • A self-declaration of the high school qualification achieved if holding an Italian or an Italian equated high school qualification (foreign high school diploma obtained in schools based in Italy);
  • High school diploma if holding a foreign high school qualification;
  • Recognized English language certificate if in possession at time of application (see below)

Entry requirements

If English is not the first language of the candidate, a recognized language certificate must be provided or the candidate will be required to take a written test and participate in a Skype interview to demonstrate an appropriate command of English.

We accept the following English language certificates: IELTS Academic scoring 5.5 or above; TOEFL iBT scoring 71 or above, Cambridge First, Advanced or Proficiency, Pearson Test of English (PTE Academic) scoring 43 or above.

Following the written test and interview, admission to the Foundation Program will be confirmed for those candidates with an appropriate command of English.

Candidates will not need to meet the English language requirements in the following cases:

  • if the candidate has a certificate to prove that they have completed a secondary and or tertiary education cycle in an accredited institute where English was the medium of instruction (e.g. IB high school qualification);
  • if the candidate is a national from a majority speaking country (MESCs).

Applications will be processed on a first come first served basis in a maximum of three weeks time from the date of submission.

After the Foundation Program

The Foundation Program does not give access to Humanitas University degree course in Medicine and Surgery. Admission to Medicine and Surgery degree course is subject to a specific admission test. The entry requirements to Humanitas University Medical School are specified in a Call for Application published on Humanitas University website.

Students who will pass the admission test and enroll on the Medical Degree Course at Humanitas University, will have the possibility to transfer the credits of the modules completed during the Foundation Program.
